Why This Reference Exists
Iowa Code chapter 22 provides a framework for access to public records, subject to confidential-record rules and lawful redaction. Access still depends on knowing who created each record. A city police department holds its incident report. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Lee County Jail create county intake records and any booking photograph. Iowa Courts Online shows the case after arrest, while the Iowa Department of Corrections covers people within its state corrections or supervision system. This site organizes those official sources, lookup steps, and request routes. No booking photographs or official files are stored here.
Information Organized Here
Lee County uses a manual, source-by-source path rather than one public booking database. The material is arranged around that local reality:
- The home page explains custody checks, booking records, sheriff requests, and recent-arrest sources.
- Fort Madison, Keokuk, and West Point pages identify each city’s real police publication or direct-contact route.
- Instructions separate the jail and Iowa VINE from Iowa DOC, federal BOP, ICE, and court records.
- Records-request guidance identifies the custodian, useful request details, published fees, and timing where available.
Limits of This Service
Lee County Busted Mugshots is privately run. It is not connected with Iowa, Lee County, the sheriff, a police department, any jail, the Judicial Branch, or a corrections agency.
- We cannot confirm, release, hold, or transfer a person in custody.
- We cannot post bond, arrange a visit, or send funds for someone.
- We do not provide legal advice or decide whether a record must be released.
- We cannot promise that an address, phone number, fee, or officeholder remains current.
Only the responsible government office can confirm present custody, charges, release, or the contents of an official record.
Search Partners
Some pages contain search boxes supplied by independent providers. Those providers choose their own prices, terms, data practices, and result methods. If a search tool leads to a paid subscription or purchase, this site may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep the reference available, but it does not give us control over a partner’s charges or results.
