Information You Submit
Terms Entered in Search Tools
A name, place, or other term entered into an embedded search box is sent to the independent provider that powers the tool. Lee County Busted Mugshots does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s privacy terms govern its handling after submission.
Messages Sent to Us
If you send an email or contact-form message, we retain the message and related contact details as needed to respond. That material is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Routine technical records may be created when a page loads. They can include:
- The internet protocol address used for the request
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when available
- Date and time stamps tied to requests
Cookies and Similar Storage
Cookies help measure how visitors move through the service and support site functions. Browser controls can reject or remove them. Blocking cookies may cause some search, preference, analytics, or advertising features to work differently.
How Information Is Used
Collected information supports the following operational purposes:
- Keeping pages available and responsive
- Passing a chosen search to the correct provider
- Understanding which Lee County resources visitors use
- Finding faults, abuse, and performance problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
Links and Outside Services
Links may lead to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Courts Online, Iowa Department of Corrections, federal locators, city police pages, news sources, or outside search tools. Once you leave this service, the destination’s own privacy notice controls its collection and use.
Advertising providers may use their systems to observe activity across websites and select interest-based ads. That cross-site activity occurs under those providers’ technologies and policies, not as a Lee County government process.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may still be available to limited parties that perform a service or have lawful authority:
- Search partners that process submitted queries
- Analytics companies that measure use
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads
- Law enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order
Security Has Practical Limits
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect information. No internet service, transmission method, or storage system is fully secure. We therefore cannot promise that data will never be lost, accessed, changed, or disclosed without authorization.
People Under Eighteen
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use Contact Us to request review and deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and verification, a person may:
- Ask for a copy of personal data we hold
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Request deletion of personal information
- Object to or opt out of certain processing
These choices concern information held by this private service. Iowa Code chapter 22 governs access to records held by Iowa government custodians, and a request concerning an official Lee County record must go to the office that holds it.
Changes to This Notice
This Privacy Notice may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A revised version becomes effective when posted here with an updated effective date.
